[Verse 1]

D G D A
The sun is hot and that old clock is movin slow and so am I
D G Bm A
Workday passes like molassas in wintertime but it's July
G D
I'm getting paid by the hour and over by the minute
A D
my boss just pushed me over the limit
I'd like to call him something
D A
I think I'll just call it a day

D G
Pour me something tall and strong
          A D
make it a hurricane before I go insane
D G A
It's only half past 12 but I don't care
                  D G A D
It's five o'clock somewhere

[Verse 2]
(same chords)

This lunch break is gonna take all afternoon and half the night
Tomorrow mornin' I know there'll be hell to pay but baby that's alright
Ain't had a day off now in over a year,
my Jamacan vacation's gonna start right here
if the phone's for me, you can tell em I just sailed away

D, G, A, D

I can pay off my tab
       G (barre)*
pour myself in a cab
       Em A D
and be back to work before 2
At a momment like this,
  G (barre)*
I can't help but wonder,
Em A
what would Jimmy Buffet do?

[Chorus] (x2)

About the artist behind Its Five Oclock Somewhere:

Alan Eugene Jackson (born 17 October 1958 in Newnan, Georgia) is an American country singer-songwriter who has sold over 40 million records. He was influenced by the new traditional country of the 1980s, and he was one of the most popular country singers of the 1990s, blending both honky tonk and mainstream country sounds and penning many of his own hits. His success continued into the 2000s and his music became increasingly counterposed with that of more mainstream country acts that were moving toward a more pop music sound. He is the recipient and nominee of multiple awards. He was inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame in 2001.
