Capitol City Chords
Capitol City Tab
by Graham Robertson

All verse chords should be voiced as bar chords
starting on the A-string (e.g. F = x|8|10|10|10|8 ; C = x|3|5|5|5|3 ; etc.).
Though I think Tweedy plays the second F (on "secretaries") down on 1,
you need to play it up high if you wanna mimic the bass line
by hitting the root and fifth below it on beats 1 and 3
(e.g. for F, 8 on the A-string and then 8 on the E-string).

On the chorus, all chords that can be played in open
voicings should be done so. The B7 is voiced as shown below.
You can walk down the C after "You wouldn't like it here"
to the C7 in order to mimic Nels' part (i.e. 1 then 0 on B
and then play the C7).

Here's some of the trickier chord voicings:
Ebdim: x|6|7|8|7|x
Gbdim: x|9|10|11|10|x
Baug: X|2|1|0|x|x
B7: x|2|1|2|x|x

Enjoy! Love this song. Very Sergeant Peppers.

Capitol towers, radiator steam vents
Scream along with the clarinets and arguments
Echo down the hall
I can't sleep; I can't wake up
I'm shaken up; maybe we should break up
I wish you were here
Better yet I wish I was there with you

(first half of verse w/o lyrics)

Picture postcard sign the moon's so
Low in the sky
I can't smile when my heart's still broken
Far away in love and unspoken
I wish you were here
Or I was there with you

About the artist behind Capitol City Chords:

Wilco is an American rock band based in Chicago, Illinois. The band was formed in 1993 by the remaining members of alternative country group Uncle Tupelo following singer Jay Farrar's departure from that group. Wilco's lineup has changed frequently, with only singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt remaining from the original incarnation. The other current members are guitarist Nels Cline, multi-instrumentalists Pat Sansone and Mikael Jorgensen, and drummer Glenn Kotche. Wilco has released six studio albums, a live double album, and three collaborations: two with Billy Bragg, and one with The Minus 5.

Wilco's music has been inspired by a wide variety of artists and styles, including Bill Fay and Television, and has in turn influenced music by The National and Cherry Ghost. The band continued in the alternative country of Uncle Tupelo on its debut album A.M. (1995), but has since introduced more experimental aspects to their music.

Wilco garnered media attention for its fourth album, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot (2002), and the controversy surrounding it. After the recording sessions were complete, Reprise Records rejected the album and dismissed Wilco from the label. As part of a buy-out deal, Reprise gave Wilco the rights to the album for free. After streaming Foxtrot on its website, Wilco sold the album to Nonesuch Records in 2002. Both record labels are subsidiaries of Warner Music Group, leading one critic to say that the album showed "how screwed up the music business [was] in the early twenty-first century."[1] Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is Wilco's most successful release to date, selling over 590,000 copies. Wilco won two Grammy Awards for their fifth studio album, 2004's A Ghost Is Born, including Best Alternative Music Album.
