 G#Maj CMaj
a late april day and it's sunny outside
 G#Maj CMaj
and a red little girl's at the top of a slide
 G#Maj CMaj
and an an orange old man at the bottom
 G#Maj Riff 1
wants to take her for a ride

 G#Maj CMaj
as she slips and she tumbles the orange man mumbles
 G#maj CMaj
pennies crash down from the sky
 G#Maj CMaj
and he tells her he'll take her away where it's safe
      G#Maj Riff 1
and of course it is a lie

        G#maj CMaj
she's a third the down and her skirts are yanked up
        G#maj CMaj
and her little girl cheeks start to wrinkle
        G#maj CMaj
but her smile is wide and her legs are spread wider
        G#maj CMaj
her hair growing long and her hips getting larger
        G#maj
past getting brighter
        G#maj Riff 1
light growing weaker....

       G#maj CMaj
she is halfway down now but the man is impatient
       G#maj CMaj
shakes change in his pocket he might have to wait but she's coming...

G#maj
she's coming...
G#majj
she's coming...

Cmin
who are you blaming?
G#maj
they're just playing!
Gmaj
that's a good one...
Cmin
who left the playground
        G#maj Gmaj
a good decade before the bell rang?

        G#maj CMaj
as she starts to draw nearer the view becomes clearer
        G#maj CMaj
the splinters are painful but she doesn't feel it
      G#maj CMaj
the pennies were loaded and as they exploded
      G#maj Riff 1
she starts to spin out of control...

     G#maj CMaj
her eyes are now closing her sleeves are unrolling
     G#maj CMaj
up past her head and her veins are all showing
     G#maj CMaj
not that she noticed she's thoroughly focused on
 G#maj CMaj
one old man who's laughing...
 G#maj
who's laughing....
 G#maj
who's laughing....

Cmin
dont' worry
G#Maj
i've got you
Cmin
don't worry
G#Maj
i've got you
Cmin
don't worry
G#Maj
i've got you
Cmin
don't worry
G#Maj
i've got you

Riff 1

     Cmin G#maj Gmaj

   G#Maj CMaj
a late april day and it's sunny outside
   G#Maj CMaj

   G#Maj CMaj

About the artist behind Slide Chords:

The Dresden Dolls[1] are an American musical duo from Boston, Massachusetts. Formed in 2001, the group consists of Amanda Palmer (vocals, piano, harmonica, ukelele) and Brian Viglione (drums, percussion, guitar, vocals). The two describe their style as "Brechtian punk cabaret", a phrase invented by Palmer because she was "terrified" that the press would invent a name that "would involve the word gothic."[2] The Dresden Dolls are part of an underground dark cabaret movement that started gaining momentum in the early 1990s.
