Verse 1
Bm Em
Out in the country,
A D G Em
Far from all the soot and noise of the city,
F# Bm
There's a village green.

Verse 2
Bm Em
It's been a long time
A D G Em
Since I last set eyes on the church with the steeple
F# Bm
Down by the village green.

Verse 3
Bm Em
Fa la la la la
A D G
'Twas there I met a girl called Daisy
    F# Bm
And kissed her by the old oak tree.

Verse 4
Bm Em
Fa la la la la
A D G
Although I loved my Daisy, I saw fame,
F# Bm
And so I left the village green.

Chorus
Em Em/Eb Em/D
I miss the village green,
            Em6
And all the simple people.
Bm Bm/Bb Bm/A
I miss the village green,
                Bm/G#
The church, the clock, the steeple.
C# F#
I miss the morning dew, fresh air and Sunday school.

Verse 5
And now all the houses
Are rare antiquities.
American tourists flock to see the village green.

Verse 6
Fa la la la la
They snap their photographs and say "Gawd darn it,
Isn't it a pretty scene?"

Verse 7
Fa la la la la
And Daisy's married Tom the grocer boy,
And now he owns a grocery.

Chorus
I miss the village green,
And all the simple people.
I miss the village green,
The church, the clock, the steeple.
I miss the morning dew, fresh air and Sunday school.

Verse 8
And I will return there,
And I'll and Daisy,
And we'll sip tea, laugh,
And talk about the village green.

Outro
G Em F#7 Bm
We will laugh and talk about the village green.

About the artist behind Village Green Chords:

The Kinks were an English pop/rock group formed in 1963, and categorised as a British Invasion band, along with the other members of the so-called Big Four (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and The Who). Despite being less commercially successful than these three contemporaries, mostly because of a four-year ban from the United States in the mid-to-late 1960s, the Kinks are cited among them as one of the most important and influential rock bands of all time and have 12 top 40 hits in America.[1]

The band's early hard-driving singles set a standard in the mid-1960s for rock and roll, while albums such as Face to Face,[2] Something Else, The Kinks Are the Village Green Preservation Society, Arthur and Muswell Hillbillies are highly regarded by fans, critics, and peers, and are considered amongst the most influential recordings of the era.[3]
