Gary Allen, "It Ain't the Whiskey"

(intro)
2x
Em C

(verse)
Em C
I stood there in the middle of the church of the broken people
Em C
Listening to the walking wounded tell their stories
Em C
My turn came I told them my name I said this aint my first time
           G D
And then a man started talking how the devil and the bottle was ruining my life
     C
With last night on my breath I stood up and said

(chorus)
             G D
It ain't the whiskey, it aint the cigarettes
            Em C
It ain't the stuff I smoke, its all these things I can't forget
                 G D
And it ain't the hard time, it ain't the all nights
                   Em C
Well it ain't that easy, it ain't the whiskey
               Em C
Thats killing me

(verse)
Em C
So what do you got for this empty spot inside me
Em C
A deep dark hole where love used to be
          Em C
Before she ripped it out and ran into the arms of someone else
     G D
Yall sit in this room and you talk like you got some kind of remedy
            C
Well I hear what you're telling me but I got all the proof I need

(chorus)
            G D
It ain't the whiskey, it ain't the cigarettes
            Em C
It ain't the stuff I smoke, its all these things I can't forget
                 G D
And it ain't the hard time, it ain't the all nights
                   Em C
Well it ain't that easy, cause it aint the whiskey

About the artist behind It Aint The Whiskey Chords:

Gary Allan (born Gary Allan Herzberg on December 5, 1967[1]) is an American country music singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. Signed to Decca Records in 1996, Allan made his debut on the United States country music scene with the release of his single "Her Man", the lead-off to his debut album Used Heart for Sale. A string of minor hits followed throughout the late 1990s and into the 2000s, interrupted only by Decca's merger into MCA Nashville in 1999.

Allan broke through the 2000s with three straight platinum albums: Smoke Rings in the Dark (2000), Alright Guy (2001) and See If I Care (2003), the second of which produced his first Number One single in "Man to Man". In addition to releasing seven studio albums and a Greatest Hits package, he has scored ten Top Ten hits (three of which reached Number One) on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
