DOCTOR MY EYES
Jackson Browne

G B7sus4 Em
Doctor my eyes have seen the years
        G B7 Em
And the slow parade of fears without crying
      C G
Now I want to understand
       B7sus4 Em
I have done all that I could
           G B7 Em
To see the evil and the good without hiding
         C G
You must help me if you can.

G C G D
Doctor my eyes and tell me what is wrong
      B7sus4 Em
Was I unwi---se,
              G C
To leave them open for so long.

G B7sus4 Em
As I've wondered through this world
        G B7 Em
As each moment has unfurled I lay waiting
    C G
To awaken from these dreams
       B7sus4 Em
People go just where they will
        G B7 Em
I never noticed them until I got this feeling
          C G
That it's later than it seems.

G C G D
Doctor my eyes and tell me what you see
             B7sus4 Em
I hear their cri---es,
            G C
Just say if it's too late for me.

Instrumental Interlude

G C G D
Doctor my eyes that cannot see the sky
            B7sus4 Em
Is this the pri--ce,
           G C
For having learned how not to cry.

About artist:

Clyde Jackson Browne (born October 9, 1948) is an American rock singer-songwriter and musician, whose introspective lyrics made him the poster boy of the Southern California confessional singer-songwriter movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 2004, Browne was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by fellow American musical artist and good friend, Bruce Springsteen. Browne also received, in 2004, an honorary Doctorate of Music from Occidental College in Los Angeles, for "a remarkable musical career that has successfully combined an intensely personal artistry with a broader vision of social change and justice".[1]
